Suggestions for Using the Resource Lists

  1. Take the quizzes provided by Find Your Spot and Best Places.
  2. Read through the "best places" lists given in the other links on the first page of resources, and take note of any interesting towns.
  3. Make a list of any and all cities that appeal to you.
  4. Begin to narrow your choices using your overall vision and your values (as discovered in our Dream Town Program).
  5. Make a list of your Top 10 towns.
  6. Research those cities through our other resources and by asking questions on our forum.
  7. Narrow your picks to 5.
  8. If possible, visit your Top 5.
  9. Make an appt with a realtor before you go.
  10. Go!
  11. During your trip take notes. Does one stand out? If yes, you have a decision, and potentially a lot of plans to make. If not, don't fret, just begin again!

Important first considerations when narrowing your choices

  • Region: Does a certain area of the country appeal to you more than others?
  • Weather: Do you like it hot? Or, is snow your thing?
  • Big or small…or somewhere in between?
  • Do you have children? If so, what's the school system like?
  • Urban, suburban or rural?
